Hope all is well in TB-land. It's been a very busy year but I found some time to make a myspace page which has been great for hooking up with other players and checking out alot of great music.
I highly recommend it; I've even gotten a few gigs from it. I put on some new music, videos etc. Hope everyone is doing well.

I just wanted to jump on Jason's Myspace recommendation. As the guy hosting the TB Sampler page, I'm going to say Jason's right! I'm not trying to shut down the page or anything, but as some of you know I haven't done much with it in many months. I'm so freaking busy trying to be productive that I just rarely can get it up for web programming -- besides, I'm using more of my storage and bandwidth for a long-distance recording collaboration project.
SO, I have noticed that Myspace seems tailor-made for musicians wanting to demo their stuff. There's a media player right on the page and stuff streams down pretty fast. Maybe we can work a conversion process where I link from the Sampler over to Myspace...
Can't wait to hear the new stuff, Jason.

And it remains a premier source of music samples by bass players for other bass players, bar none. I can only imagine how much time and effort it must take to get a page of this scope up and running and I thank you. It has given me an opportunity to link potential listeners to my work and a chance to hear alot of fine music by fellow TBers. Myspace is another tool for musicians who dont have alot of money for their own websites to get their music and info out on the web. I think it would be a good idea to put a talkbass myspace page up so other bassist and non-bassists in the myspace community could find the incredibe talkbass website for themselves. I would be willing to put up a simple page if there was noone else who wanted to do it. Thoughts, opinions? |

I believe you have to "sign up" just like youtube or googlevideo or whatever and then you have access to hear everyones music. I suppose some probably let you download their tunes....I never got that far.
Cheers |

François | I believe it's as simple as clicking on the download button next to the song. The thing about myspace is that the artist can choose to make his/her songs downloadable or not. It doesn't look like Jasons are... Great stuff by the way. |

I have a personal page on MySpace.
I'd like to upload (put, if you prefer) MP3s on it, not download someone else's songs.
I can put pics and videos but didn't find how I could put songs.
The best I found was to put links to songs I uploaded on a personal page somewhere else...
OK, my english is not very good, I know!

OK, my english is not very good, I know! | It's not the english. It's me....In that case log into your account then click on "edit profile" which should be in the upper left part of the screen, then "manage songs". Then it's pretty easy from there. Another thing. You must have a music or artist page as opposed to a personal page. I made that mistake. On personal pages you can't really have music on them. I spent a whole day messing around with myspace. I found it confusing but helpfull as well. I've gotten a few gigs using it. Send me a link to your site

My page is at http://myspace.com/fblais but beware, it's in french, my native language, and quite basic. (I created it about a week ago)
Do you if I can convert my personal page to a music or artist page?
(I suppose it's not free...)
Best,
François

Best,
François | As far as I know you can't convert it but is is free. You have to either cancel the account you have (click on "account settings" then "cancel account" then it asks you some stuff) or start one using a different e-mail address. Your e-mail address can only linked to 1 account. Here's a link to start a music one... http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fus...b-613b5cb60b98
On the right side of the page it says artist signup. That's what you want. You're an artist! |

I loved the music on your myspace page... It's all great, but
...but my favorite thing on the page was your Berkeley story.
Let me know if you ever digitize that "60 Minutes" tape.
It sounds like a moment out of a Seinfeld episode.
Back to the music... the blue grass video under the tent structure was really fun.
Thanks for sharing!
