New Trane/Monk

There's an article in today's NYTimes, apparently the Smithsonian has found a tape of a concert that Monk's quartet, featuring Trane, did at Carnegie Hall 11/29/57, almost an hour long and professionally recorded (as opposed to the Five Spot portable tape recorder set up on a table, not that I'm complaining) with quote"strong and clear" sound in which you can hear " the full dimensions of Shadow Wilson's drum kit and Ahmed Abdul-Malik's bass".

No commercial release has been negotiated yet....

My friend saw them at the Five Spot, september 57. It was Monk, Trane, Wilbur Ware, and Philly Joe who was filling in for about 6 days. He said it really was an amazing happening!
