Just FYI-- Amazon.com has a Paul Chambers/Wynton Kelly re-issue scheduled for Jan 30 release entitled "Go/At Midnight."

maybe they'll reissue "Bass on Top" someday...?

But at least he's got some Tab on TalkBass!!

Check it out - a tabbed version of a bowed solo!

On a more serious note - I got a CD re-issue last year of Ray Brown's 1956 "Bass Hit" by Verve, which is very nicely-packaged and has lots of information - not bad for a Bass Player's album !

Maybe Blanton's name will pop up during the Mingus segment. That is a real shame.

Bass On Top

Mosaic
www.mosaicrecords.com
has released the Paul Chambers set of 3 CDs with Chambers' Music, Whims of Chambers, The Paul Chambers Quintet and Bass On Top. The set also includes two excellent duets with Paul and Art Blakey. $39. Highly recommended.

The Mosaic set of Paul Chambers/Wynton Kelly --- Complete VeeJay recordings is also great, but Mosaic has sold out of its' limited edition. If you can find that somewhere, it's worth it also.
