SPANKIN' NEW TUNES from Pete Coco....

Guys-

Check out the new tunes on my myspace page. I just joined the latest incarnation of the Frank Vignola Quintet and we cut our first record the other day. These are all unmixed but lemmie know what you think. It's pretty different than Frank's other albums...

Band members are:

Frank Vignola, guitar; Josh Pinkham, mandolin; Vinny Raniolo, guitar; Rich Zukor, percussion, & me on bass.

Pete

Hi Pete,

Great sounding group. I have allways been an advocate of "mandolin is a great jazz instrument", and you guys prove it. Oh yeah, rock solid bass work too!!!

Thanks Jim. Yeah, I think the mandolin works great in a jazz context too. By the way, the mandolinist in the band just turned 18 and he's been playing for about 5 years!

Pete

This is a late reply, but man those recordings are just excellent! I`ve heard many try to work the mando into gypsy jazz/jazz type formats since Grisman in the late seventies, but in my opinion none have suceeded nearly this well. Great bass, comping...everything just clicks. I hope it doesn`t change much when mixed...

I love Mr. Vignola`s work with DeFrancesco. He`s got some fans out here.
