Take The Sedan for a test spin...

And now for something a little different.

For the last six months or so I've been working with my old pal, songwriter Todd Brown of Calgary, Alberta (http://www.myspace.com/toddgbrown). 25 years ago we played a bunch of gigs as Six Man Sedan -- a vehicle for Todd's material -- and I guess we never quite finished what we started. Todd popped out of the blue earlier this year and the Sedan fired up surprisingly well. It's different now -- it's just the two of us and we're making recordings virtually, there being 800 miles of long distance between Winnipeg and Calgary.

Anyway, we're sitting on a bunch of tunes and I've posted a few demos for the world to start checking out. I'd love it if any TalkBass folks checked it out:

It ain't jazz or bluegrass or classical stuff -- this is pop rock music, and I think our 80's are showing, but it's what's coming out of our melons, what can I say? We listened to a lot of Beatles and Neil Young and Steely Dan and Weather Report and all kinds of stuff back then and it's all in there somewhere.

If you check it out, I sincerely would like you to lay on any feedback, criticism or advice -- private or public. We're a two-man virtual band with a few dozen songs like this, inclined to make recordings like this. What would you do with 'em? Musically, business-wise, anything.

And YES there's double bass. DB is on all three tracks and it's the primary bass on two of 'em. My fretless FrankenBass and my old Warwick Thumb also make appearances. It's Todd singing and playing most of the guitars; I'm responsible for pretty much everything else. Our old pal Bill Spornitz lends us a hand with some soprano sax on two tracks.

Fling it at us, TB'ers! We're geezers and we can take it...

Good stuff, man! Very slick. Mature, as well, like you're more concerned with writing damn good tunes than you are showing off, which abounds these days.

Very good to hear from you Cats. Thanks for taking the time to listen and thanks for the kind words.

I was starting to think we should rename this from "thread" to "dark tunnel of silence."
