UPDATE: Through some amateur detective work (saw the eBayer's location on an item he recently sold), I believe the Guild is in Whitstable, Kent, UK. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...
Help me find my wife's father's vintage red Guild Starfire!
He passed in 2006 and in 2011, his guitar was sold to a local music shop (The Sound Shoppe) in Florence, Alabama.
From there, it was sold on eBay by user guitard20033pv1 to user stephenknievel in the UK on June 5th, 2011 for $1425 (US Dollars). The eBay item number is 270756621121. Below is a portion of the description:
"Awesome Guild Starfire from the mid to late 60's.100% original.Plays and sounds fantastic.Original frets have been dressed and this guitar plays and sounds great. All the switching and electronics work as they should.Guitar has normal wear for its age.Belt wear (see pic) and various nick and scratches but no mods or cracks or major repairs.Binding is pulling away a little in the cutaway but not broken or cracked.Original hardshell case is included."
I've made repeated efforts to contact the user through eBay, but none of my messages have been returned.
I believe the serial number is EK-1507 or 1607. The only photo I have of the back of the headstock isn't clear, but I used Photoshop to try to pull out the serial. It's got a Bigsby tremelo and a bit of buckle rash on the back.
Photos can be found here as well: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/teej...y/RodneysGuild PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...
If anyone has this Guild or knows who does, please contact me. I would like to purchase it back for my wife.
