OP, having had three basses stolen in my life it's not a nice feeling. All but the first were insured but, as you know, money can't replace something that you love.
I sincerely hope you get it back.

Let this be a lesson to all of us...if you don't own one of the three here, you should get some. | I feel deeply for your violation. Getting ripped off sucks, not so much for the loss of stuff, which can ultimately be replaced, but for the feeling of being f'd.
But there is another lesson here that should not be overlooked. NEVER leave gear in your car. No matter where, or for how long, just don't do it.
Best of luck in recovering or replacing your gear..

JBY | That totally sucks! My sympathies. Best of luck getting them returned.
Now, I really dont want to pile on because Im sure you are PO'd enough but, +1 to the quote above. I live in a really nice neighborhood in a really nice part of town with my own house and driveway, but I would never leave it in my car for an extended period of time or overnight. There have been lots of times I wanted to, like when you get home at 3:30 am from a gig and are exhausted, but times are tough. People will take anything, especially something they can hock quickly. |

DEFINITELY NOT NECESSARY. Given the opportunity, I'm sure I could out lecture anyoneon the faults of leaving any sort of valuables anywhere unattended. |

After 14 months of being missing, a TB'er spotted it on Craigslist and with in 25 minutes of that initial email, I my phone was ringing off the hook, my email inbox was full and plenty of texts came in because many cats had seen it online and wanted to let me know. When I set up a meeting to see the bass, I had 2 detectives in the car outside of the house where the bass was. I was able to recover it.
I wouldn't lose hope that you will see it again, it is pretty unique and many of your bass playing brothers are on the look out for it.
Have you contacted Amp Shop (garrrrry), Trutone or GC Hollywood? It would be good to circulate pix/serial number around to the LA County pawn desk and a variety of shops in Socal.
Best of luck Poon. |

Best of luck Poon. | Thanks for the inspirational words/story brother. I definitely have the serial number to a lot of the stores in the area, including the ones you listed. There are a lot of Pawn and Music Shops in Los Angeles though. And who knows where it could be at this point. But thank you for your support and wise words. |

| | | | My '64 P-bass was stolen from the stage after a gig in 1984. Insurance payed me, because I had a contract for my gear. They even payed wrecked speakers - excluding electric damages. So I managed to get the cone damaged a few times while loading / unloading it.
Long story short: In 1998 I found my bass back. I found it by myself in a music-store and could proove that it is mine by the Serial Number.
But: Some reeetard decided to install a Jazz-Bass - PU at the bridge position and a Badass - bridge. So its no longer original.
I know that it was usual to get a Jazz-Bass- PU in bridge - position in many Precision Basses in the 70's - but 1.) NOT ON MINE! and 2.) not so near at the bridge! It just so near that the adjustment screws of the PU nearly touch the bridge. You cannot use the PU alone (for kind of a Jacko-sound maybe). The PU just brings a bit high frequencys into the sound.
I changed the control knobs. Now I have the (original) knobs for volume of each PU and a extra Tone Control. So I can turn the JB-PU down and play with the Precision sound I love.
But: This reeetard ruined a top-notch, complete original '64 Precision-Bass! It lost most of it's worth in currency - the insurance company wom't pay for this. But this ist not the problem. I have him back - and some day he will get a brand new Warmoth-body.
I hope that You will get Your basses back - in top notch condition, with no DIY made on them...
