Stolen Basses in Tucson

Sign in to disble this ad
I was robbed this week and lost three basses.

The first a Schecter Hellcat baritone. Sunburst with Serial Number W09070886

The second is a Dean Fretless ABG, black

The third is a Custom bass that I built. The headstock logo is "Joel's Custom Bass" and has Marvin the martian on the end of the headstock. The bass is named "Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator"

It's a copper colored bass and has a Chrome Hipshot tremolo. Dual EMG TW35 pickups, Chrome knobs.

Please be on the lookout for these instruments. I would love to see these SOBs get caught and get my swag back.

On the bright side, they won't be hard to identify if they hit the local pawn shops with them.

Sorry to hear that, I've had my gear stolen before and I know how much it sucks.
Most you can do is file the Police reports, post ads in all the local forums and with the main music stores and pawnshops.

Good Luck.

Make sure you filed the police reports.

Then, like veryone else said contact local music and pawn shops. Call The Bass Place in Phoenix/Tempe area as well, in case they make their way their.

Then everyday surf www.allofcraigs.com and put in your info. It will search the whole Craigslist, not just your local area.

Good luck!

Sorry for your loss.

Any chance that the seller (or store) has the serial number recorded from when you bought it?

I got it through Musician's friend. Never wrote down the serial number. I always have with other instruments and took pictures.

Mine was fretless, black suede strap and fender wrapped black string

Goods News

I have been contacted by the officer in charge and they think they have found my basses. I haven't been able to contact the detective in charge to claim them.

Someone tried to pawn them. I hope they are able to nail the SOB and get the rest of my stuff back.

It seems there has been a rash of robberies in this area so maybe this will help solve more than just my case.

Tucson Police department rocks!

Great to hear that you might be getting your basses back. Any status on this?

maybe, maybe not, but not for a while

I spoke with the detective today after almost two weeks of phone tag. Anyway the three basses were pawned. They will be on hold for thirty days and then go into police custody as evidence. They have a warrant out for his arrest. I should get them back after the trial.

For some reason no charges are brought up against him, the basses will go to civil court where a judge will decide who gets them; me or the pawn shop owner

interesting twist... They should go back to you, thief arrested, you onto gigs again.

When I got one of my basses stolen from my car after a gig, the thief must have waited 3 days then went to a pawn shop... where it sat in a back room for 14 months.

This nearly $4,300 bass, the thief was given $300 for!!!!

The pawn shop turned around and sold it for $1000, the guy that bought it was going to "try" and sell it to me for $2,500...
