Guitars stolen: Four guitars stolen from band that played Naperville's Last Fling. - chicagotribune.com

For country musician Tyler Farr, it isn't about the monetary value of the four guitars stolen after a gig at Naperville's Last Fling. It is the sentimental value that accompanied them.
Farr said Wednesday that the Paul Reed Smith Custom 22 guitar that was taken Sept. 5 from a rental van near a hotel at Ferry and Warrenville roads was a gift from his father — a replacement for a broken instrument when he moved to Nashville, Tenn., to begin his career.
"It's probably one of the worst feelings I've ever had," he said of the smash-and-grab theft. "You just feel violated."
Farr, 27, said the other three guitars — a Fender Tele-Custom electric guitar, a Goldfish Mini electric guitar and a Martin Dreadnought acoustic guitar — belonged to bandmate Dirk Weaver.
"I thought he was going to cry," said Farr, the bandleader. "He was absolutely devastated."
While Farr said he isn't concerned about the monetary loss, he hopes the thieves know his band is playing shows as a way to make a living. He said Weaver had to take out a loan to buy one of his guitars, and the three were basically all of the equipment he owned.
"I don't know if they just think we're made of money," he said. "We're trying to make a living, working our butts off to make ends meet."
Naperville Crimestoppers has announced a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Those with information can call 630-420-6006.
