Thanks to the swift work of the APD, and even more so to the guys over at Earthshaking Music in East Atlanta for helping recover almost all of my gear. This has been a great day. For anyone who might have lost gear, my posts here, craigslist, and screaming tree gave were the reasons I recovered my gear so quickly... be proactive and your chances are good.

After returning from shows and vacation my car was stolen in front of my house in Decatur Georgia... all of my gear was still inside. My insurance is covering only $1000 of the $8100 in lost gear because it is "work related", but honestly I just want my main bass back.

I have had this bass almost my entire career and am heartbroken, the peaks and valleys of my life are reflected and embedded in this bass. I take my lessons from the Jamerson handbook so the bass is literally never cleaned, well worn from 10 years of touring, soaked in my sweat, and I lacquered over some blood that got onto the pickguard in a rocking incident.

The bass I am desperate to get back is...

Fender Reggie Hamilton Custom Shop 5 String, Serial Number CZ10299. 3TS w/ blocks but no binding, heavy wear, cigarette burns on headstock, a lot of bare wood showing in typical spots, pbass knobs, and I just had Jimmy install an Alleva Coppolo preamp.

I am attaching some photos, as well as a list including available serials of the gear stollen, but honest I don't care about any of it except the 5 string. If you are in the area and ever see anyone with a bass like this it is more than likely mine, I've had this Reggie Hamilton for 10 years and never seen another. So please, please keep your eyes peeled for any of this gear, especially the Reggie Hamilton Custom Shop 5 String and contact me with ANY information.

I'll keep an eye out too. A few years ago, I found Jai Raj's custom Benevente on craiglist a year after it was stolen from his car at Fuzzy's. He got it back! So don't lose hope, because an unusual bass WILL turn up somewhere.

We put this out in a blog post: http://blog.dbtwang.com/stolen-guita...2th-july-2010/

Also have a look at http://blog.dbtwang.com/lost-and-sto...esources-list/ - there are a number of stolen guitar alert services which you could use if you have not already seen them.

Hey, Chris, I live in Douglasville, and I'll be going to a local music store tomorrow (it's like half the size of a warehouse), and they get tons of trade-ins, so I'll keep a sharp eye out, and I'll have your number on hand just in case I see anything.

I live on the Southside of Atlanta. I will keep an eye out for your gear.
What is still missing?
Did you go by Atlanta Bass Gallery recently looking for a replacement speaker for your cab? If so, I remember meeting you that day.

My car was stolen at Lenox mall years ago with my Ernie Ball Sterling in the trunk. My car was found a week later with no bass of course. A year later the bass turned up on eBay at a pawn shop in Forest Park. After back and forth with the shop and police, I was able to buy the bass back for $300. I'm glad you recovered most of your stuff! Good things do still happen every now and then.
