This statement is too broad. In some states, a "bona fide purchaser for value" can acquire clean title to property, even if it turns out that that property was stolen. Unless you know what Iowa law is on that issue, your advice is probably not helpful to the OP.

congrats! I've seen so many people railroaded and screwed over by the police in situations like yours, I'm glad you were able to avoid becoming another victim.

The detective who was supposed to contact me, who I waited forever for, to come take the bass away... Never once heard from that man... lol I feel so good that my local police dept. puts as little effort into resolving problems as they can. He never even called.

Ya, it took a few months but it worked out. I had given up and stashed the bass in my basement, because I didnt want to get to attached lol I was stoked to hear he got a settlement!
