I will also upload the Finale files, thanks for the suggestion.

About the key: the key is not C, it is open key, which I feel is the appropriate way to write something that is a) very often chromatic, and b) not at all related to the key of the song, but only to the current chord, which in the case of the Blues is nearly never related to the key of the tune. Thus, for the sake of readability, every accidental should be written when it occurs, but - you're right about that - the key of the melody should also be clear, so I'd write it in F next time, but place a b in front of every B flat anyways.

(because, in fact, an F Blues would be more in F mixolydian than in F major, but writing it with 2b would just lead to even more confusion)

I am aware that this is a lot of work, but it is also very rewarding: studying those basslines is very educative, and I feel that I wouldn't publish transcriptions that I know have errors.

The original website seems to be no more. Can anyone point me to a set of copies, please?

I am totally ignorant regarding torrent.

What is it?
How does it work?
Is it safe?

I see that the files are in differents formats (.enc, .ftm, etc...). What else will I need to be able to read these files?

This wiki should help:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_(protocol)

Yes it is safe, assuming the stuff you are downloading is safe (which it is, in this case).

You need to install a bittorrent client, like this one:

http://www.utorrent.com/

Then download the torrent file to your computer. It will automatically load into utorrent and ask you if you want to begin downloading the file set.

.enc - Encore
.ftm - Finale Template
.mid - Midi files

Midi files can be played in Windows Media Player. Finale files can be opened, edited and played in Finale Notepad (free):

does anyone know if they have the rest of the files in torrent also? Because there's only some of the Blues transcriptions posted and none from the basslines of standards.

Finale files?

Can't seem to get the torrent link to download any files. Does anyone have the Finale version of these files to share?

I've been working through some Jamey Aebersold jazz books, but would love to work through all of the songs through using Finale.
Thanks to anyone that could help!

I am having the same issue. I would be interested in Finale or PDF copies of those files.

I made a zip file of just the Finale files and the docs describing the collection. It is 31 MB. If someone has a place to host the file, please pm me and I can arrange to temporarily place the file on my server.

I put a zipped copy of just the Finale files on my web page server temporarily:

http://www.bluewailers.com/temp/bass..._standards.zip

It's 31 MB. You will need Winzip or similar program to unzip it.

I'll leave it up there for a few weeks. If someone has a permanent place to host it, please pm me.

Cheers,

Jeff

How can there be more confusion?

Hey Karl

Would it be possible to put the changes on the pdf files? As far as I'm aware chord changes w/ a bass line wouldn't be infringing on anything. I think it would make them a little easier to follow and dissect.
