Looking for classical double bass instruction

I live about 45 minutes from Milwaukee and about the same from Madison, WI. I'm looking for instruction in the classical style with the hopes of someday joining our local community orchestra. I have some upright experience, but can not read music and have never used a bow. If you can help, or can provide some direction, please respond.

Music theory

I too play upright string bass, I've been playing about 3 years with 2 years of electric bass before that. I know much about reading and interpreting music. If you have any general questions you can ask. I would give a brief overview of music theory, but then this messege would fill up a page. so here's the basics of bassics.

The notes on the lines of Bass clef (F clef) are G,B,D,F,A from bottom to top, spaces are A,C,E,G. When you see those two numbers in the begining of a piece on the staff, that is a time signiture. the top number tells how many beats there are, the bottom tells what beat gets on beat. I.E 4/4 means 4 beats per measure, quarter note gets 1 beat, 2/4 means 2 beats per measure quarter note gets two beats.

Anything else, just give a holler. I don't know what you do or don't know. but I know a good amount about music.

Call the orchestra and leave messages with a few of the bassists that you are looking for a teacher.
