Reading Question

This may be a stupid question but:
Is the low E I play on my bass the same low E on the Bass Clef?

No. The double bass "transposes down" one octave. So the sound hear is one octave lower the written note.

EDIT: Sorry if that's confusing. So when you read that low E, you play your open E string, but the note you actually hear is an octave below that.
