Specific and stupid question on simandl book (reading notation)

Ok so I'm not a reader and I barely qualify as a bass player but carry on regardless.

In simandl I think it's the newest edition on page 10 Exercise 6 on the F major scale on bar 9 there is a sharp indicated at F implying F#

The exercise continues without giving the F# sharp a natural sign. I've always thought that if you change something with a sharp or flat sign that it stays sharp or flat until you stick a natural sign on it. But I find it unusual that the rest of the excercise in F major would continue with F# instead of natural.

So I'm thinking that it's just a once off but it contradicts what I thought on how the whole sharp and flat thing works.

A little help would be great.

The # is only good for that measure. As soon as you hit a barline you defer back to the key signature.

Ah yes that makes more sense. Indeed I think I can remember reading that at some stage along the way I just didn't recall correctly

Thanks.
