How can I search for a 2 letter phrase?

If I was trying to search the forum for information related to the SX brand of basses, how can I do that since "SX" is under 3 characters?

Because of this exact situation, most threads include the word "Essex" in their title or body so that they show up in a search. Type "Essex" into the search field and search the titles of threads in the Basses forum and you should have more than enough reading material.

Easy.

Go to Google.

Click on "Advanced Search".

Next to "this exact wording or phrase", type "SX".

Search in the domain, "www.talkbass.com"

You'll get what you're looking for fast.

Done.
