Why can I sell a Gun on TalkBass, but not an adult DVD? (or other adult type things)

I was just curious why things likes guns can be sold on here, but not adult DVD's. Even if done without photos.

Seems a little unfair (and VERY one sided) . Both are illegal to buy under a certain age.

A 12 year old can't buy a gun on here.

A gun has proper transfer processes that must be done, and if done right is completely legal. It's up to the seller to determine the buyer's eligibility to own a gun. Proper transfer documents must be completed.

Pornography is not generally to be considered acceptable in mixed company. It's also not legal for people under 18 (21 in some areas). It's pretty easy to lie on the interwebs.

Oh, and this is a private website, and the owner can decide to allow what he wants within the bounds of the law.

Not that I would shop for either on here.

Agenda? Really? A gun is just an object, and it matters what people do with it, not what it is. Same with porn. It's a privately owned site, and it's within the rights of the owner to allow things like that.

An adult DVD is just an object. Like a gun, unless there is human interaction, it is harmless.

As long as it fits within your viewpoint, as a paying customer of this website why would you complain?

I was just asking a general question, as a customer to the owner.

I am almost CERTAIN there is an adult audience for adult DVD's on this site, as well as an audience wanting to buy firearms.

If we are going to make this an online pawn shop of sorts, why discriminate?

According to Christian morals? Like saying a I can't sell Dawkins books on here or something due to subject matter either. That argument doesn't hold up.

I am not a huge fan of gun ownership, I also do not own any porn. I wouldn't rally for either on here but I find one just as offensive as the other.

I expect this thread to get closed soon anyway.

You're probably right about the thread closing, but I would expect you to be able to sell Dawkins books here... I don't see why you couldn't. You cannot argue that pornography should be able to sell to anyone who can lie on the internet about their age. Guns have a very specific legal process requiring permits to be checked and such. That's why (IMO) that they can be sold here.

So what about that person that was selling that bass with naked women all over it. Why wasn't that pulled? Porn is porn. Whether it's on a bass, on a DVD, or in a magazine.

That I don't know. I wasn't the one to make that decision. I do think that that shouldn't have been sold on here, judging by the current policy on pornography.
