$$ Warwick...

So my formerly owned $$ Warwick pushed my Orange TB to a perfect sound that cut through my bands mix no matter what... Any pedal, or no effects at all, didn't matter, you heard the bass... Since I off'd the wick, I've lost that cut.. I currently play my Stingray Classic and MIA Jazz and have lost that cutting ability with my standard tuned band.. How can I get the "growl/cut back"? My Swollen Pickle just blends in when I kick it on... Can't even hear myself over the guitar player at all.. Would some better pups help me or do I just need a new bass?

I own all three of these basses. $$ Wicks have a very deep tone with lots going on. The jazz would no doubt sound thinner but a Stingray should growl and punch through pretty much any mix. It won't have the same low end punch of a Wick but I have never heard anyone say they couldn't be heard in a mix playing a Stingray.

Maybe I should more time with the Stingray and it's knobs to find a good tone.. I tend to run things flat and let them speak for themselves...

I have had all the basses you speak of. IF you miss the Warwick now............you will definitely miss it down the road.......Warwicks have low mids..........Spectors have mids........and Stingrays have high mid bite.........thats "just the way I think about those three basses"...........my OPINION not fact

I have to admit, even though I love Stingrays, the Warwick tone is unique and addicting. If you are seeking that tone again, there is only one way to get it!

I owned a $$ Corvette and moved it and although I still have plenty left none of them can cop all the tones of the $$ they seem to be able to do it all and do it well. Way more of a beast then an SR5 in my opinion.

I miss mine but when I do get another one it will be in a Streamer body. You have been stung and I know the feeling I owned a Jazzman then sold it and played and bought so many other basses then after 5 years of trying and loosing a bunch of money tone chasing I bought another Wick and another and another and another and another. Up to 7 and still want the $$ set up it's awesome..

I own a 98 all original Warwick Thumbass 4 neckthru, it hangs in it's deluxe gig bag inside my closet. Hasn't seen daylite in a few years, I do check string tension on a regular basis. It's too much for me to handle and I prefer passive. I was hoping my son would take it to the next level but he's stoked on his own jazz and p bass. Does this bass interest you?

Do the regular J type pups in the Warwicks have the same growl as the $$? I'm sure they're not as powerful or loud, but soundwise? Sure, I'd like some pics and info on your Warwick.

There are a few well-priced $$ 4-strings on the Guitar Center used site if you're not afraid to buy before playing.
