1963 fender pickguard question

Just wanted to know if in 1963, olympic white precision basses came stock with the white or tortoise shell pickguard?

The new American Vintage Series of basses have the olympic white precision with the mint green pickguard which is suppose to represent an old white pickguard eaten by chemicals. I've also found a couple of original olympic white precision basses with the tortoise shell pickguard.

So which pickguard came stock on an 1963 olympic white precision bass?

Either one - usually dependent on body color.

Both for sure. I'd hazard a guess than 70-80 percent were tort on white bodies, but I've seen several white on white too. Brian Wilson's '62/63 comes immediately to mind.
