1966 Precision Maybe

Hi,

I have a Fender P-Bass with serial number #110901. I was told by the seller that it was 1964 to 1966. I've owned it since 1977 and probably will sell it. The guitar is in good shape with the original case. Any ideas of the year made and approx. value. Thanks.

Positive verification of the year & authenticity of all parts requires you to remove the neck and look for a date on the heel of the neck and in the neck pocket, and also to remove the pickguard and verify the date codes on the pots (volume & tone controls) and the appearance of the solder joints. Make sure and take pictures of everything you find!

Value: Check to see what similar basses are selling for in the TB classifieds and also on eBay. I believe TalkBass rules prevent you from discussing value unless you are a supporting member.

If you really want help on this, you'll need to take the neck off for dates and do the same for the pots and pick-ups. More pics of every part of the bass will be needed too. Value is dependent on a number of things that will need to be determined.

No biggie, it happens quite often here. As someone said, you can check the classifieds here for similar basses or check eBay for ones that sold.
