Nice score man!
Forgot to mention:
The Custom shop did the 51 in 1991 as a 40th anniv, and again in 2001 for the 50th anniv.

| | | | I have number A011. These were a limited edition production, of just 15 examples. Very rare bass you have there. The 40th Anniversary examples weren't limited, but these 50th were strictly limited run. |

Seller is asking $3,200. I put in a lower offer but was shot down. http://www.ebay.com/itm/290820416129...84.m1427.l2649 |

That was the first time in decades that US Fender made a single coil bass, especially the custom shop in their infancy. They did really good on it though. Japan Fender had been making their production RI for a while at that point. |

| | | Jesse Gago Guitars in Vegas is selling one from 1991, Masterbuilt: http://www.jessegagoguitars.com/pre-...-bass-reissue/
I own a Masterbuilt as well, built by Yasuhiko Iwanade, serialnumber 1001. But I don't think they made that many... so I guess it's number one... It's very special, birds eye maple AND tigerstriped.
Here's some pics:
