2004 american standard precision bass pickup questions
Can someone please tell me if the pickup in my 2004 American standard presion is the same as a 62 p pickup? Or is the standard pickup different? Would I improve the tone by adding a 57, or 62 replacement pickup in my American Standard Precision bass? Any and all info greatly appreciated. Thanks Sincerely Growler571.
Lemme tell ya: good question
If I'm not mistaken, early '00 American Standard Fender Ps sported American series split pickups (e.g. now on MIM Reggie Hamilton Standard Jazz bass)
A '62 kinda split pickup can sound very close to your standard so I really think '57 split to be capable of givin' you alternative
They also have the S-1 switch during that year - it's located on the volume pot, allows you to bump between series and parallel. I have an '04 precision, and I never found it to be a useful feature and I currently have it bypassed. Great sounding and playing bass.
I have a 2006 MIA P-bass. Those specs differ from the vintage pickups.
My 60th Anniversary P-bass comes with the 62 pickup as standard, and there's a difference when compared.
