2013 Fender Jazz Road Worn feedback

I am eyeing a used one (6 months old). I currently play and like a MIM Jazz about 10 years old. It is completely stock from the factory. Just have an itch to get this and maybe notice an upgrade. Any first hand feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I own 2 RW jazz basses now. I bought my first and was honestly very suprised as to how solid and instantly 'at home' this instrument felt to play. That particular bass ( a 2008) has some kind of half-round worn strings on it and it just has a nice deep vintage sound to it. Very usable live and in a recorded mix. Sits in a mix as good as a P bass does, which is not always the case with my other Jazz basses.
It's also not much over 8lbs and resonates real nice.

My 2nd (also a 2008) was a 'new old stock' from a dealer with Fender stock round wounds. Still has a 'deep' tone to her but also has a nice slap tone. I think a good set of flats on a Road Worn jazz would be an amazing sounding axe and would stand up against any Fender, any day, IMHO.

The necks are close to the best Jazz neck on any Fender I have touched.

Both of mine are stock and I would not change a thing.

Finish seems to be highly contoversial but after playing one I don't care what anyone has to say about it.

Highly recommended.

Have you played the bass in question and what type of music do you play?

Reason I ask is the RW Jazzes I have definitely sound more on the vintage side than the modern side. Of course the right strings and you could pull out closer to a modern sound. It just leans toward vintage to my ears, which to me is a good thing. To help you decide I recommend playing it and if it calls to you go for it. Fenders tend to play differently bass to bass but the RW's I have played are pretty consistant.

Also both of my RWs sound very full and even, sonically up and down the fretboard. Too cool.

I also have a habit every time I get a new bass, I wind up accidentally hitting a speaker cabinet or cymbal stand hard. With a Road Worn, no worries there.

Good luck deciding. Also do a search for other threads on this forum discussing Road Worns. A lot of thumbs up from owners (and, well lets say a fair enough of hate for the finish!)

I have a RW P-bass and because it is so good, if I ever get a Jazz, it will be a RW.

No doubt about it, that's a persuasive selling point.

Does it have the 58358/9 pickups?
