Alembic also makes 5s and 6s in a 30.75 scale. Expensive, but available.

There is such a thing.

Hey bro,

Im in the same boat as you. Ive been playing shortscales after discovering them after playing for 15 yrs of a little struggling. But today I just ordered a 30" scale 6 string bass. Not sure how it plays or sounds yet. It must be made cheap because it sells for only $299 believe it or not. The brand is Brice. Go to buzzardsbass.com and you'll see it. I have a custom one in the making but the luthier got really sick so he hasnt been able to finish it. Its a beautiful 5 string neck thu in a 30" scale. Its been a year since, so Ive decided to try the Brice only because its cheap and I cant wait any longer. But the Brice looks pretty decent. I ordered the 6 string because its lenght is 40 inches long. I wanted the 5 string but it is 44 inches long. Dont know why that is since theyre both 30 inch scales. Anyway, check it out.

Peace!

Well depending on your tuning I can't really answer... If you have a shortscale 5 stringer or 6 stringer, then the low B string won't resonate good..

if money is no object Status make a very good 32" version of their 5 string (and 6 I think). I have a Streamline and it's fantastic - including the low B string.
