MIM Jazz, new Bassline pickups, DR nickel lowriders, complete setup from a Certified Fender Tech buddy from New York who comes into town a few times a year, and I put a tort pickguard on it.
The ATK305 (not sure if I had this when I joined) I took the pickguard off, and nothing else really to do to it; it’s just a great player.
The Squier I did nothing but the tort pickguard, but I do have a new set of DR SS lowriders… not sure what I’m gonna do with those.
I've gigged all three quite a few times.

Sincerely,
Owner of your Bass' Cousin | I don't know too much about it myself, Got it as a Birthday gift back in 1998, and haven't been able to find much info about it.
Its Maple Neck and finger board, with an alder Body (has a dark stain on it) It was originally black, but I sanded it down, and stained it about ten years ago. It was my main bass for about ten years, until I got my Sixer, now its a close second, but I love it!

As you can see by my Magna earlier in the thread, mine is quite different...the only research I have mustered up over the years is that the Magna Series was made '92 - '94 and that info is now gone from the AP site.
Even our serial #'s are way different...mine is: 94566 and it's stamped in between the 23rd and 24th fret....as well, I have the 2 slanted J pups.
I too, love my Magna...I think they just 'got it right' for what I look for in a bass.
Thanks again for the info.

No one else came forward for this club, so I might be the only TB'er to own one.

It's an Ibanez BTB with a set of SGD Sidewinders and a Nordstrand MM installed, and it also has an Audere 3ZB installed. Using just the Sidewinders I A/B'd it against an MIA Jazz and an MIA Stingray and was easily able to cop tones very similar to both basses. With the EQ set flat the Sidewinders sounded just like the MIA Jazz. I just needed to boost the upper and lower mids to get a tone very close to the Stingray.
I find that the Sidewinders paired sound too much like the MM, so I'll be putting an SGD Neo MM in place of the Nordy MM soon. Then I should be able to get a credible P-Bass tone out of this bass. |
