5 string schecter studio

Hey this is my first post here but anyways I've been playing bass for about 6 months so I'm pretty new. But I bought a Schecter studio 5 to learn on my own. About a month ago I decide to get private lessons. But he teacher insist that I learn with the EADG and forget the B for now.. Is that the right way to learn or not? Correct me if I'm wrong but I would like to learn on all 5 strings

The way i see it a private lesson should meet the demand of the student . If you tell him you want to learn with the 5 strings he should help you learn the 5 strings

He probably has your best interest in mind , and wants to start you learning 4 strings, but it won't hurt to cal up another bass instructor and talk it out. Perhaps they will be a better fit.
