Does anyone have a 50s style P Bass with a single coil in the bridge position (the same kind that's in the neck position, not a Jazz pickup). Would the bridge pickup need to be wider? Just wondering 'cause I found a sweet Squier CV and... you can imagine the rest. |

Curtis Novak could probably roll you one. He has a bunch of different '51-style pickup offerings already. |

I'll post a pic in a min.
No volume loss across the strings and tone is consistent.

I added a 60's Tele-Bass pickup, to a Precision, in the bridge position.
Instead of a jazz pickup.
Got idea from Tim Bogart in Cactus.
To me, it match P-pickup better. more even between pickups.
Sounded great. |

Only one I have in my photobucket. But you can gauge it's location by where it lines up with the knobs. I would say it's in a 60s J location, not closer to the bridge like a 70s J.

There's something special about those single coil P pickups!
I recommend using the same pickups neck and bridge if you can. If you get one special made for the bridge position, try to have a matching output neck pup built.
