The Curbows are pretty special! I've got a Cort Curbow and I really like that... but I have to ask, how do they balance when played sitting? Since I usually sit when playing, I need a bass that balances well without a strap.

And I second your last comment.

Also love the wide spacing on my Lakland 55-02D. Hey Dan! How about a 66-02 with the same wide spacing?

Also wish Carvin would have kept the wide string spacing on the BB76, just as they did on the BB75. That would have been a winner.
Same reason why I sold my Cirrus 6 a year and a half ago. The TRB-6 works like a charm....

So... Carvin hasn't got a wide 6er, either? I thought they did...

Nope. All their 5 and 6s are 17mm with the exception of the Bunny Brunnel 5 (BB75) that has the wide 19mm spacing. They, unfortunately, stupidly, didn't keep this distinctive (to the BB) feature when they made the BB76.

I got a question thatis pertinent here. I know this is an old thread, but Ia m going to add my question here.

In which Playing situation are folks finding strings too narrow or wide? I personally love being able to fly around my SR necks, but I also have trouble (cramped) when playing chords with the 5-1-3-7 voicing. I know I can get by on just. 1-3-7 voicing, but with the 5th on the bottom it really gives body to the sound.

Inam wondering if I should try a wider spacing to see if I like it better, but the last thing I need is another bass...ugh. Gas!

I've actually come full circle on this.
I had a wide (19mm) 6 for a while since this thread was last active (Pulcinella Level 6) and have since gone back to a 17mm 6 (Spector) since I found I couldn't reach many of the wider voicings I was used to doing and was experiencing hand pain from the wider reaches.

I've just come to the conclusion I'll use a 4 string for most of the regular bass stuff as I won't be doing any real slapping on the 6 anyway.

I still would prefer the wider spacing on a 5 though if I could only take a single bass to a gig.

The Yamaha TRBJP2 (John Pattituci model) has wide string spacing.

Yes, I am quite aware. Its one ofthe basses, I am gassing for. That and a Yamaha TRB 6II. I just dont know what chording compromises wider string spacing presents, if any. The wider ones Ive tried seem to be easier to chord on.
