6 string fretless

Hello new to the forum, currently own a 4 string two 5s and a 7, I like my 7 but I want to go with a fretless, not sure where to find one though, and would like to know if they are comfortable ? Thanks.

The 6 string fretless I came across were just custom shop items...

But I do own a Warwick Corvette fretless 5er and been testin' an Ibanez SR505F many, many times to decide for a purchase.

While Ibanez is a lined fretless, and well, as you may know, sleek, balanced, resonant and so on, it was not my choice, but Warwick instead (which is beautiful ebony unlined one)
'cause its precision and accuracy blew me away.

I found out I'm more precise and accurate on Warwick ebony unlined fingerboard than on many other I tried out before, only
exception being Fender Jazz fretless

I play a full step downtuned and, let Squier Vintage Modified Jazz alone (really poor agathis body and ebonol fingerboard), even if I love Yamaha TRB1005, its lined fretless version was not only uncomfortable but absolutely misleadin', IMHO.

Fender fretless Jazz, by converse was fully adjustable, it held downtunin' quite fine, was factory equipped by proficient Fender flats (I then on happened to look after them over d'Addario Chromes) but I somehow failed to grab one on time.

It was bought right away by somebody else instead

Warwick is an alder body, maple neck bass (much like Yamaha TRB1005 and Fender Jazz) but its ebony fingerboard is as easy
to handle as it can get...

€. 400,00 for new B-E-L-I-E-V-E M-E

Now: I read your thread... lookin' for a fretless 6er... Take a look in the Warwick camp

Cheers,
Wallace

I went with one of Tom Clement's fretless for my 6er. Tom's a TB member so you can PM him. He'll build you what you want.

Roscoe makes a very comfortable 6 string neck. Great sounding fretless, too.

+1 for Carvin. They have several 6-string models and they're all available as fretless. Their necks are great if you like them thin/flat.

I concur on the choice of Carvin. Check out either the Icon 6 or the LB76. Very nice instruments.

As to the issue of comfort, they're about as comfortable as any six-string bass can be: Relatively comfortable if you happen to have large hands or long fingers; not so comfortable if you don't. Still playable if you have very disciplined technique; not so playable if you don't.

Depends on your budget.

I own a 2001 ZON Sonus 6 Custom Fretless; thus my screen name.

Zon makes excellents basses, different electronics offerd. I chose Bartolini.

I can achieve otherwise unbelivable low action on my Zon.

Too low and it starts to mEEOW [ sounded like a sitar ] instead of ...muAHHH. Tons of Muahhh and sustain, with round-wound strings.

Could you give an idea of your location and price range, and anything else that might help narrow you down from '6 string fretless'? There are quite a lot of options out there and you could easily get 100 'not what you want' suggestions.

You could go the Warmoth route and build your own.
