My only issue with the UV70 is that I am a little hesitant to buy a $3000 bass that was constructed in Japan. Especially seeing as the 74 reissue is US made and $600 cheaper.

How are you finding your UV70?

They are as good as any other 3000$ bass.

I bought mine online from bass central in florida...they pay the shipping too, good dudes. They have some selection of the different colors n stuff too. I got the maple board/ash natural body one with black blocks and binding...it looks REAL close to the Marcus fender with the black pickguard n stuff and they have this real cool blond pale maple on the necks that looks really cool n doesn't look cheap like the geddy lee one...speaking of the geddy is an ultra affordable 70s version of the jazz which I'm sure u know. The uv 70 has the hum cancelling pickups in em and they r dead quiet thru the entire pan. U will b smiling when u play this thing.

Also I like the idea of supporting American workers, but made in Japan quality wise is every bit as good as the good ol usa crafted axes...maybe even better. It's not like Japan is some third world country like indonesia and in fact the Japanese have highly skilled workers who take great pride in their work...I wonder if they have talkbass in japanese???? Lol

Well everything you've described about it is what I'm looking for! I'll have to take a closer look, but I'm not as concerned about the made in Japan detail anymore.

Thanks!

There are many copies of 70's fender, with its pickup placements, bridges, necks and body woods. The one I recommend would be Alleva Coppolo LM 4 or 5. He uses everything possible to get to the originals. Sadowsky is another. A sadowsky 70's are nice. Although I never had a sadowsky 70's model I do have there NYC as well as the AC LM5. So can't say exactly what the sadowsky in the 70's era will give you but the LM 5 is pretty amazing. You can get a very 70's sound from it.

I was actually considering an AC after getting really into some Jamiroquai a few years back, but I remember being shocked by the $4000+ prices. Looking back, going for a $4000 AC might have been wiser than a $4000 Fender CS! Still pretty set on the Sadowsky UV70 at the moment. Even found a few, new, for $2800 delivered!

Alleva Coppolo Also has the basic model. But a Sadowsky is nice also. The NYC is Sadowsky upper 4000 +. But Jimmy (Alleva Coppolo) does not have an oversea's factory. Jimmy makes all the basses here. Also they are not delivered parts either. It wouldn't hurt to email him or call. He isn't a guy who is going to sale pitch you but give you a hand made bass.
