I'm not affiliated with this cat at all, but this appears to be a hell of a bass at a fairly stealish price. It's only right that TBers get a first crack at it. I'd be happy to facilitate a deal for dudes interested.

That price is quite high for a 3001. Just a few years ago, $800 was the going rate. How these are recession proof when they used to be so unpopular is mind-boggling.

They are great basses but they just aren't worth $1200 as far as the market is concerned.

Hmmm...I'm not too up on values, but I figgered a minty 3001 would be worth a dozen Benjamins on moderate rarity and condition alone.

Not really. Ask 2000-2007. In 2008, prices jumped a lot... but I still don't think it's worth that.

I have a 1978 3001 that is almost identical to that bass. (Paid $350 for it in the mid-90's) I LOVE that bass & it is one of the great sleepers in the 4 string kingdom.....but a grand is about the top end on those now. $1200 is on the high end.

I remember "watching" those on ebay for years & they wouldn't crack $800.

Sweet bass though. Offer him $950 cash.

I'm not personally interested in it. I have a '80 4001 as well as a couple of Fenders, a Lakland and a T-40. I was just putting it out there for the TB community and offering to be a go-between on a possible deal (and maybe get to play it a little ).

I sold mine on here a couple months ago for $700, which was a steal, but I was also flipping it. I saw one go the next week on the bay for $1000, plus shipping the very next week. I would guess anywhere between $800 and $1000 is the most realistic price range.
