77 Carl Thompson bass

Hello,

This is my 77 Carl Thompson bass. I just bought it las month and added Custom Reed James Humbuckers and a EMG BTC Circuit, plus David King Custom Wood PU mounting frames. I hope you enjoy it. This is a 34' Scale bass, very rare !

Although I'm not a fan of the 70's CT body shape, I really love this one. Could you post up some soundclips? On a slightly unrelated note, I just got mine at the end of last December, so maybe I'll post up some pictures in the next few days. Carl makes a great bass.

Oh, and I'm new here. Hello all. =)

Welcome!

I am with you though.... I really don't like older CTs generally but this one is killer!

Very nice!! What is the scale on that monster?? That neck looks pretty long. My CT has a 36" and it's a pain to find strings that fit.

The simplicity of this bass makes it much more palatable to me over some of his wilder basses. Nice.

Ahhh! I'm glad to see that you found a Carl Thompson! (I also have a '77 CT. You can't beat it!)

How do you like the sound now that it's active? Did it require any/much routing? I have considered Nordstrom SoapBars and an Aguilar OBP-3 pre in the Baldini Bass, but didn't want to cut any wood.

Hello ! It's 34" but I have a 36 " also and it's string through ! So I really had a big problem to find the strings ! I just made a research and strings that will fit CT basses 36" strings through are :

Any Thomastik Super Long Scale as JR364 and IN364
Rotosound RS66EL Extra Long Scale
DR HI BEAM Extra Long Scale

If your bass is 36" and not "string through body"

Daddario super long scale

Thanks

I just add a EMG BTC control ! I did not make any cut also ! I custom ordered these James Reed Humbuckers . Jim (From Reed custom PUS) cand make any pickup in any shape if you want. The bass is sounding incredible ! I think that the OBP3 STK/PP will work fine also !
