so i found this on craigslist today and was interested so i gave the guy a call. they are a professional repair shop that "restored" the bass. the thing is that they are telling me that the only original parts on the bass are the neck and the pickup. the rest are new parts from fender. would you even consider calling this a "77 P bass" anymore? don't get me wrong, i think this thing looks freakin' awesome! i am just thinking that $1295 is too steep for what it really is. what do you think? 1977 Fender Percision Bass |

i say, if you're in love & you got the juice, do it |

If it is assembled with genuine Fender parts (especially the neck and body), then IMO, it is a Fender Precision with a '77 neck and pickup, but it is misleading to advertise it as a 1977 Precision. |

$1500-1750 is about standard for that era with mostly original equipment (replacement pickups and pots, bridge swapped, etc.) Assuming the Parts are genuine Fender or otherwise high quality replacements, I'm thinking that it's a $800-900 bass, and like $400-$450 of that is for the neck alone. |

And because of that, the asking price is too high. PurpleDrank's assessment is closer to the mark in that regard. Also make sure to find out if a case is included or not. If you're on the hook for your own case then even $800 is pushing the high side.
