80s Fender Squier P-Bass Questions...

I'm looking at this Fender "Squier Series" Precision that looks to be from the late-80s. I made the shop selling it an offer on the case, but I'm going to check the bass out as well to see if it might be worth making an offer on both. The ad states that the small "Squier" logo and any info about where the bass was made was sanded off by a prior owner, leaving just the "Fender" logo. Talked to the guy at the shop, and he says he thinks the case is original to the bass, as it has a Squier logo that was spray-painted over. I'm wondering if anyone can help me tie down the origins of this bass. Are there any MIJ Fender Squier Ps with the plastic truss rod plug? I'm thinking this is probably MIK. Any thoughts, based on what you can see in the picture?

looks nice. Hard to see any details in that photo, but if it plays well and the price is right...go for it! My '89 Squier standard P (MIK) plays better than most MIM's I've had / tried.

I learned to play on one of those. While I'm no longer really interested in the Fender body shapes, I'm occasionally curious about getting one again.

A closer shot of the headstock and the back of the tuners would probably help clear things up.
