80's Yamaha BB300 - need help with truss rod

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought one off ebay and I'm not sure how to adjust the truss rod. There is a hex bolt of some kind in there. It's male not female - not made for an allen wrench but would require some kind of specialized thin right angle wrench. I'm wondering if this is normal and if so what kind of wrench will work.

If you own an 80's yammy what kind of tool is used to adjust the truss rod?

Well, my 80's BB1100S uses an allen wrench to adjust the truss.
Perhaps yours requires a wrench similar to this

You can probably source this wrench at your local shop, but it will be called ... Dang it, the name escapes me right now!!!!
I'm sure someone will provide you with the proper name... and they sell for less than $10.00.

My 84 BB400S came with this tool (see pic) which is an 8mm metric socket on a long handle (with a cross head screwdriver on the end).
