You are not a supporting member so I wager this question will go unanswered. Nice bass though shame to see it without strings.

I saw one of these in a pawn shop near my house last year, i really wanted it lol then it sold, so i bought a RW P.

It sold at a pawn shop, WITH a few chunks out of the fretboard, REALLY aged hardware, and missing knobs for 450$ up here in Canada.

Thats all i know, it was quite nice to play.

What year did Tokai change their headstock from the Fender style? I think it was after '83...

A quick look up reveals they didn't change until at least 1985 in the USA market

One sold recently on eBay for about $400, which seems about right for an 80s Tokai with a post-lawsuit headstock.

By the way, check out the incredibly thin finish it had:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Tokai-Hard-Punch...item3cb1e4a37b

You can see clearly see the grain of the wood telegraphing through. I had an 80s Tokai strat that was the same way -- paper thin finish. I'm not a fan of poly but the thin Tokai poly is a lot less objectionable than the dipped-in-a-vat-of-plastic finishes you find other makers using (this means you, Fender).

Just found this from tokairegistry.com-
"By '85/'86 the headstocks on the Fender copies are not exact replicas of a Fender headstock. Seem to have more of an angle to them - close but not exact, this change may have accurred as early as 1982 in the US."

Personally I don't believe they changed in the US until '85. Apparently they stayed the same for a few more years in Japan but I've not heard any definitive dates as to when they switched.

That bass shouldn't go for more than $400, IMO.
