I wasn't looking for a new bass, but I decided to hop on Craigslist just to see if there were any crazy deals happening. A P-bass caught my eye. I am setting up a meeting to try it out, which is really what it all comes down to, but I still wanted to get opinions from you guys on the 'deal' aspect of this sale.
$200: " 1993 MIM Fender P Bass arctic white with a black American pickguard and electronics. Frets are 100% the neck is straight, very minor dings, nothing that effects anything."
What do you think? Would it interest you?
Update: purchased

| | | | I'd hop on it, definately. If you don't feel anything totally wrong with the playability or the actual feel of the instrument, then go sir! Go forth! |

The seller is an interesting guy too. Excited to potentially purchase from him. Heck, even if I don't like it, I might end up buying it and just turning it around myself.

A previous owner took a power drill to the neck plate screws and one went in too far and bent the plate, but the neck didn't get hit by the screw and a luthier checked it out and gave it the a-ok. Also, the last owner was a smoker, and in his words he ate a lot of hot dogs and potato chips, so it's not the cleanest feeling instrument (and because of the cigarillos, it smells like a cross between smoke and a dog). The pots are scratchy but they still work, so it's good enough for me to play with until I take it to get cleaned and set-up! |

All you need is white covers for the pick-up, paint the headstock black, and you're good for all the Paul Simonon you can handle! |

Even though I love my gear, I know see why new bass day is exciting. |
