______ is to warwick what Squiers are to fenders ?

Sign in to disble this ad
well as stated - is there a cheap good alternative to a warwick bass ? you know - a growly bass that screams "I am bad a** erm behind..."

think warwick thumb sound but perhaps streamer jazzman look alike

+1 on Rockbass. Isn't it exactly a Warwick "Squier"?

Yes. An overpriced one.

well I see plenty of people praising the squier - but not much talk about the rockbass - so I'm guessing the build quality is inferior - only speculations though

Rockbasses are actually quite nice, I'd rock one if I didn't already have Wicks.

I meant as far as positioning the product.

For the price of a new Rockbass you can almost get a used Warwick Corvette if you shop around enough.

There is only one answer if you want to use that analogy, Rockbass.

If you want to talk about something that may have a similar vibe, then sure we can talk about that. But as far as the analogy or thread title, one answer.

that said, I've been able to find corvette standards for 400-450 before, and I'd certainly go that route first.

If you want to consider the amount of praise the Rockbass gets, remember for every Rockbass that is sold, there are probably 10,000 Squiers sold.

This.

I'd put Rockbass on par with Squier in terms of build standards, but relatively speaking, they aren't the same as their respective counterparts.

wow times have changed. back when i bought my first bass, which was a squier, it was basically the worst piece of junk on earth. now people are wondering if stuff is "as good" as a squier. even with the improvements that squier has made i would say rockbass generally surpasses them in quality (and price). rockbasses are pretty cool because you can get that nice burpy, warwickish sound, which is tough to find among cheaper instruments.

The new rockbasses are great. The old ones were sub par. The new ones are well worth their money. Its a new factory, new design. They use the same hardware and electronics as the german ones. Made in China. China stuff is good stuff in my experience. I had a chinese Squier that was amazing. Indonesia is hit or miss. Korea is pretty solid. Japan is great. Mexico is hit or miss, older the better.

etc

Rockbasses are great now. I have a Corvette basic 5 fretless.
