Anyway, I saw Abe at a local jazz club here, he was awesome. Jumping up and Down like a boy, banging on the bass with his whole hand!

I remember reading a BP interview with Abe Laboriel around 1996 - shortly after Guidum was released. He talked about his Ares 6-string bass being used on the album. It was many YEARS before I got to see an Ares... At least a decade, or more.

| | | This thread is a couple months old, but I'm the other guy in the second picture with Abe, and thought I'd confirm that it is indeed an Ares bass. If I recall correctly, it was custom-made for his hands in order to reduce risk of carpal tunnel injury.
He let me play the bass... though... when I played it, it sounded like me, not like Abe!
