AC/DC Stingray Bass Tone Question

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a brand new Musicaman Stingray Bass. I am wondering how do I get my Stingray to get the same sound Cliff Williams gets for AC/DC. Mine is a 2 band EQ 2010 model. Any info and advice greatly appreciated.

play it for 30 years, soak it in beer and sweat, turn all the knobs all the way up, and be awesome.

On the contrary, turn it down where you can't hear it over the ear punishing guitars.

That should be about right

I looked up AC/DC's bass equipment and found:
"Cliff uses a '76 Music Man strung with D'Addario flatwounds. For amplifaction Cliff uses ealry '70s Ampeg SVT and 8 x 10 SVT Cab. Cliff also uses a Demeter tube Dl box. Cliff uses a cable, instead of going wireless. Cliff uses Fender Extra heavy picks. "

So I would suggest a Tech 21 VT-Bass to get the "SVT through an 8x10" sound. I have two and I love them.
