Active bass into passive input?

I have an amp that has passive and active inputs.
When i plug my active bass into the active side i have the gain at noon and volume at 1-2 o'clock.
When i plug into passive side gain is at 9 o'clock and master is at 10-11 o'clock.
It might just be me, but i find the tone of the bass to be more to my liking plugging into the passive side.
I know older amps only had passive inputs and isnt the active side just a signal cut anyway?
This isnt hurting the amp is it?

The active input just cuts the decibels of the signal. The passive input will definitely give you a more lively response. The only reason the two inputs exist is for people who think they can crank the gain to 10 with an 18v active bass and not blow the speaker out.

You're not going to hurt your amp. Just listen to the signal and use your head. Don't push it any further than you would normally, and you'll be fine.
