Active Shortscale?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,

I was curious as to weather or not there are any production, under $600 new/used ACTIVE shortscales.

I am in love with my 3 passive shortscales. However, i do love the tone on my active 5 string and active ATK300... i'd just love it MORE on a 30" scale bass

Mine are all passive... However, I did see that Rondo is selling an active shortie (30") 6 string Brice.

I have NO idea how good it may be. Just passing along the link:

Brice HXB-406 3/4 Nat Bubinga Short Scale Bass (September 2011) at RondoMusic.com

The only active short scale basses I can think of are Landings.

And they cost more than $600. I'd love to see something like the Squier Jaguar HB in short scale.

Surely you could buy a short-scale bass and fit it with active pickups, and yet stay under the $600 mark?

A Squier fitted with EMGs, for example?

Not in production, but my Stu Hamm Urge (I) is 32" scale, and can function as both active or passive.

I was thinking this, actually.

I just got an SX ss Jaguar... a J/J (i love squier, but i'm not a fan of P/J setups). I'm gueeeeeeessing the Jazz pups are a standard size i can fit some EMGs into...

In a perfect world, i could afford a Landing or a Spector Shorty

I'd say go for it, I love the EMG 35DCs in my bass. I'm sure the Js would be pretty good too, seeing how Victor Wooten and Robert Trujillo (and others) use them.

Add pre to Mustang?

Anyone found a pre that will fit the control cavity of a Mustang reissue?
