Advantages and disadvantages of buying offshore (online) ??

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone,

Can you please help me?

I am thinking of buying a Rickenbacker online, from another country. Aside from the shipping costs and obvious risks of postage, can you think of any other disadvantages of buying offshore?

- Warranty?

- Damage in the post?

- Dodgy seller?

- Any other disadvantages?

Please comment

Many thanks,

Bad Bass

Unless you're buying from an Authorized Rickenbacker Dealer you won't have a valid warranty, irregardless of what the seller may say.

Also, import charges are something that a lot of people are caught out by. They can be pretty hefty depending on the country you live in.

Thanks.

So Spike, if i bought from an authorized Rick dealer, would that warranty be covered from overseas? In other words, could i use it here?

Evil Undead, thanks for you advice. Any advice on how to find out about "import charges" (like call my local customs office?)?

Thanks,

You'd have to send the guitar in to Rickenbacker in California to use the warranty.

What country is it coming from? the UK, you're OK - Pakistan, trashcan the order....

Will the seller give you the serial number so you can check with Ric about the warranty?
What will you do if you never receive the bass?

All ? to ask before buying from overseas.
If I can't afford to lose the money or can't go get my stuff in person (not good for them) cause they didn't ship it, I pass, I rarely do business overseas.

I agree. Best to buy from home.

I did buy my Corvette $$ from abroad though, which worked out cheaper for me, but it was a hell of a risk.
