An adventure in tone exploration

Hey dudes, I've got a request that may sound quite lazy and possibly even asked before. I'm looking to graduate from my current bass, a MIM Jazz V which has served me well for many years as what I consider to be an "intermediate level" instrument.

I'm realising I don't really know what's out there. I'm trying to find a source of bass recordings. A place where many different basses have been sampled to give an 'overview' of their tone for those of us with limited access to a variety of instruments.

The Lakland website has an incredible section devoted to their different basses and how they sound with varying techniques. Would be a good place to start. Plus they make a quality bass...

These guys have a buch of clips of basses. I didn't really look to see what they had, I just knew they had a bunch.

These sites are great, especially the Lakland! Thanks for the suggestions.

Search YouTube - the sound quality is less than stellar on some clips, but there are just as many high quality recordings.

Just search a make/model you're interested in & see what pops up.
