I, myself, haven't had a chance to try out a Geddy Lee Sig, so I can't weigh in on that, but if I may suggest a couple of alternatives…
For tonal variety, perhaps something with a P/J config? You can get a brand-new Aerodyne for that price, or even save a couple of hundred on a used one. Something like that could allow you to achieve a P-bass (or at least, really darn close to a classic P-bass) sound, but is able to mix a little "bite" into the mix via the Jazz pickup. I'm told the Geddy's are pretty light too. The Aerodyne definitely fits that criteria, if it's one of yours. (mine's 8.5lbs, even with the Hipshot Drop-D tuner)
If you're looking for a Jazz that is even more aggressive, see if you can take a look at the Blacktop Jazzes. Something about the double-P-pickups makes it a helluva cannon!

I felt a great disturbance in Las Vegas…as if thousands of Elvis impersonators cried out and then suddenly left the building.
