Any out there playing Alien Audio basses? These things are flatout bad ass instruments. Charlie "Chopper" Anderson is a builders builder. He is a great guy and the basses kick serious ass

It is like having 5-6 basses. So many tones...all first rate components. alienaudio.us

I met Chopper a couple of years ago in Nashville and played one of his basses. I remember that it had an overdrive circuit built in to the onboard preamp that sounded pretty good. I thought it was a pretty handy feature.

Chopper is an interesting guy with a great approach to bass building. I also luv almost 2 inch wide nut on the 5. The drive is a thick tone.

That was the other thing that I remember....the neck seemed huge. He definitely has a unique approach geared towards the working player who might be playing a rock, country, or theater gig on any given night of the week. I dig it!

Indeed. He is brilliant. He has shaved the necks (front to back) down a hair. Mine is number 4. He is gonna shave mine down a but to match the new ones. They are just cool basses

I talked to him about 2-3 years ago. Very nice guy. The bass piqued my interest as I really need a bass that sounds like 5-6 basses to handle my busy Top 40 band.
Honestly, the problem with making a commitment to a new builder is that nobody knows their work, except in this case, with some Nashville folks. Most new builders are still learning their craft and haven't yet refined their product. Last, if you try to sell the bass, you're looking at a good year and a half to find someone who appreciates the instrument. I'm going through this right now and have endured a waiting time of this length on a couple of basses I've had.
The good thing about Chopper is that he's not a young builder just starting out. He's got lots of experience, is fairly priced and is a nice guy who is willing to work with you.
If there's any way I could play one of his basses in Atlanta, I'd seriously consider investing in one of his basses.

Can you post an audio sample of your bass in different pickup configurations?

Yes as soon as I get it back. Mine is number4 and I am having Chopper put the new wiring harness in it. I will be doing videos for him and Genz when I get it back next week.

I'm seriously interested in checking this bass out. If I can sell my Bee bass and get some mula!!!
I'm assuming you've done your homework with Chopper's basses. Can you shed some light on the pickup combos of P/reverse P and the P with humbucker like yours?
I play just about every style. I'm not worried about it sounding great for jazz. I've got that covered. I need this bass for R&B, rock, pop....everything else!
Is yours an ash or alder body? Too many questions!!

Great basses that record beautifully. I have a Lunar 5 dual P setup and it is the most traditional sounding 5 string I have owned. The P sound is there as well as several other usable tones. The B is huge and it does not sound active at all. Mo West's preamp is pretty unique.

It is similar to old James Tyler basses in some ways (never should have sold mine . . . Darned funkythumb!!!) but the nordy's have the grind the barts don't have (but the demeter pre and barts have their own magic). However, from a versatility and where they sit in a mix standpoint, they are comparable IMO to Tylers and Lakland 55-94's and a much lower pricepoint.

Also, hensonbass has one and he is located in Atlanta, I believe.

I haven't played Choppers dual "P" but I had one of my P basses cut for that and it was perfect.
The Nordstrads kick with the P and humbucker. It is a real serious tone machine. I will let you know my wood. I asked him in the note asking him for the wood. It weighs a ton

The Nordy's are real cool... and the preamp smokes. I can't wait to record it. It is the best 5 string precision I have ever played. I am simply floored by the whole thing. Every part on the bass is first rate from bridge to tuners.

I've had hundreds of basses. This is the best bass by far. No kidding. Chopper is the best. No contest.
