American Standard Jazz Bass V

I just ordered one today. Fingers crossed.
I like the 3 color Sunburst with TORTOISE SHELL. My dream Bass
I guess its to new because I don't see many people with this Bass on TB. I see it mentioned here and there but no posts dedicated to it. So this is my post.
I play a Traben 5 string now but want the classic tone of a fender for the older songs and need the 5 for the new country music. This is my first big purchase new for a name brand Bass.
You could call it my mid life crises. I got my Traben off of CL.
I thought about the MIM but the wife talked me out of it, go figure.

Any one out there have the newer American Standard Jazz 5 string?

I'm getting used to the tone but I like it.
This is what I am using.

I did the series mod to my jazz to see the difference.
http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...c=jass_bass_sp
At first I got the ground wire and black neck pickup wire mixed up then it worked fine. Its darker and louder.
I haven't played out or practiced with it yet, but I dont have to use it.
I used this.

250K LINEAR SOLID SHAFT PUSH/PULL POT

This is what I use now.

I think that's gorgeous. The absolute classic Fender bass look. That's my plan for the near future, but with a maple board. Gotta sell my MIM first. Putting it up this weekend. Congratulations!!!

What's up with the fretboard? It looks all munched up in the first picture.

Mazel Tov!!!!!! Glad you went USA.... no comparison to the MIM. This is a Pro bass indeed, and her looks are most classic. Congrats!!!

That's beautiful!

Sunburst/tort is my favorite on a Jazz V, as well. I have the cheaper MIM version, but I love just looking at (as well as playing) it.

I have a couple Fender Pro 410s, too.

I've finally mastered the bass, does anyone know what those other 3 strings are for?

Congrats the new Fender American Standards from 2010 are the best IMHO. Lots of guys own this bass but the Candy Cola/Maple version has been more prevalent I think. Can't go wrong with yours, it's a great playing sounding bass.

Yeah, definitely looks like the edge of the fretboard has been chunked out..... perhaps someone's misguided attempt to roll the fretboard edge???

I love it congrats just gorgeous but it does look like some tiny beavers hit the edge of the fretboard.

Gorgeous, but for the damage on the edge.

If that picture is an accurate representation of the edge of that fretboard, I'd return it.
