I got this info. directly from a Fender dealer yesterday (just as I got my new sunburst '62 AVRI P-Bass). He told me that Fender is going to be issuing some new AVRI models, but that these will not be '57 or '62 Ps and he believes that the '75 AVRI Jazz basses are also history as of 12/31/12. Fendr would not tell their dealers what the new models will be, and he expects that there will be an announcement and introduction at the upcoming Winter NAMM Show in January.

I just hope that the new models are something that I have no interest in. Preferably some boring colors too please with unpainted headstocks. If anything new blows my dress up, I will be one of the idiots giving the checkbook a severe beating.
Yes, I am ashamed of myself.

Yes, I am ashamed of myself. | Oh man, the new ones are going to cost SO much more than the current ones.

Pay attention people. I will give you a brief glimpse in to the twisted mind of a gear mad man.
If whatever is released is uninspiring, then I am off of the hook.
OTOH, if they make something that makes my heart go pitter patter, I can justify in the following manner......
Street price on the AVRI P was 1349.99, no discounts. I paid 946.00 to my door, for a discount of 403.00 or 29.87%.
So, if the new (potentially can't live without) New American Vintage costs 1752.00 street or less, then by the laws of GAS and bass buying karma, I will be straight.
Like how I justified that? Drives Mrs Zoomie up the wall and at times, forces her to fly around the house on her broom.
I should be a CFO for a huge conglomerate. I too can sharpen my pencil to suit my own tawdry desires !

I can't even squeeze that in to my twisted mind math................unless................unless there is a matching painted headstock involved. That would be worthy of a premium.

/diabolical laugh | Where did you get yours from? Musiciansfriend would only price match to $1030. |

Originally Posted by A-Step-Towards Where did you get yours from? Musiciansfriend would only price match to $1030. | Here's how it went.
Sam Ash listed at 1059.00. Discount code listed in Hot Deals section here gave me an additional 100.00 off for 959.00. I purchased. Then I received the dreaded Back Ordered email. Not their fault. They had killer pricing and sold a bunch of them. Since they had no firm date for getting them back in stock, I cancelled and went to Zzounds.
I have done lots of business with Zzounds and always receive stellar service. They still had them listed at 1,349.00 but advertise price match. I provided the link and the code and asked if they could match. I wasnt trying to beat them down further as it was already a ridiculously good deal. And they had the 3TSB P's in stock. Within one hour I received an email with a link good for 5 days that said they would not only match but knocked it down another few dollars to 946.00 shipped. That's when I broke my arm grasping for my wallet.
Friday can't get here fast enough ! And it's a double bonus as once it's here I can hot rod the Antigua P. It's been getting to much use to send it to my luthier. No P back-up, hence the AVRI.
In the end, I am glad that they were in stock at Zzounds. They have taken such good care of me that I almost feel like I owe them any business that I can send them. And no, I am not affiliated in any way.
I have only had a problem with one bass purchase. They have a no questions asked return policy and had a new one on the way to me the moment they saw the return in the UPS system. They actually crossed in the mail. Unbelievable service.
Their only caveat is that they dont carry all brands. Heavy Gibson and Fender vendors though, and enough general amp choices to force me to keep an eye on their website.

Ditto your praise of Zzounds. A few years ago, we bought a refurb electric piano that arrived badly damaged courtesy of UPS. Made a phone call. Zzounds sent us a NEW one and had us return the wreckage in the new box! Good folks.

I still have the same very set of TI Flats (043) that I put since the day I got mine 62' P. | Chromes or 77s.

I am not sure what I am going to do yet. I had a love hate relationship going with some TI's. I played Chromes on Deluxe a briefly and really liked the tone of them. I guess I'll try Chromes and the new Fender 9050L's that JohnK swears by and see where the chips fall.
P Bass, BNA Audio Dually, and the Kilo or the Streamliner. I sure do hope I can get some bottom out of this set-up.
