I have that set on my '62 tuned to standard and I look at playing that bass as physical conditioning.
All my other basses with rounds feel like toys when I go back to them.

It has aged beautifully in 30 years (unlike me). Badly checked finish on the body and worn thru in spots on the neck (on the bass). We've been thru a lot together; gone from rounds to flats, pick to fingers, big hair to Kangol and from Ampeg to...(after a bunch of trial & error) Ampeg. Older shot from a Face to Face gig in Ft Lauderdale around '83, newer shot from a James Mongotmery Blues Band date in Plymouth MA in '11....still staring at my left hand too!

That bass has got to be your best friend. You two have likely been through a lot.
The most recent pic is an incredible shot of you and the singer. Fantastic energy captured.

I'm a new member to the club. I recently got a 62 Jazz 3 Tone Sunburst on sale. The bass is awesome! I was wondering if any of you have put the brass grounding strip on the bridge pickup? Is it a huge operation? Actually is it even included in my case candy? It seems like Fender stopped putting these on the reissues a while ago.
Take Care,
Brent

I love to hear about people having one main bass for most of their career. I passed the torch from my MIM jazz bass (also white) that I played for 15 years to my new black/maple P bass. Hopefully we'll be together for awhile.
What kind of flats do you have on it now?

They can be hard to find. I'm not sure if they've been discontinued, but they do pop up every once in awhile in the classifieds. That's where I got mine.

Hipshot makes some as well that are not as light as Gotoh but lighter than stock. Hipshot customer Service is also top notch.

Or if you take the bass from your warm room and leave it outside in the winter without the case.

I didnt even do a set up yet. I'll take it to rehearsal tonight and see if I can get through 3 hours of playing without bleeding out.
I'll post up pics tonight.

Click for full size. | It might sound weird for most you, but I think it looks pretty cool.
Looks like it has a very thin finish over some kind of top. Something very unique
