Anyone Else Name Their Instruments?

I'm not sure how many people do this, but I sure do. I remember my first bass was a red Yamaha RBX that I named Rose because it was, well, red and I'm not that clever. When that finally crapped out on me, it was replaced with a natural finish Samick that I named Blondie. Eventually had to sell that to make rent, but have recently replaced it with a black Hofner violin bass. I haven't come up with a name yet, but it might just be because I didn't get much chance to really play it before I had to leave town for business. Hoping when I get I'll be able to sit down for a good long time and find out what her name is.

When you've got as many as I do, it's either giving them names or giving them numbers.

I might have to start giving them last names too, I'm running out of first names

My Jazz basses are named (Little) Red Rosie and Marilyn. I'll let you guess which one has the natural finish and a maple neck My Strat's called Hadassah, after my girlfriend's middle name.

But there's indeed already at least one thread dedicated to this subject.

Rose, Clair No wait..........................

Those are my kids. It was hard enough coming up with names for them. I'd have to come up with 25 more to name my axes. Lets see Fido, Spot, Ruff, Hound Dog................

See thats all I got!!!! Now my head hurts. Can't we just fight over which names are best for metal.

My main bass has a name ... a brown '79 'Ray that I've been playing since '83 ... "Muddy" ... and not for the tone.

Not every one of my basses has earned a name. My white/maple AS Jazz Bass is "The White Tiger" because it has tiger stripe flame across the back of the neck. My Blizzard Pearl AS Jazz Bass is "Pearl". My white/rosewood AS Precision Bass is "Vanilla Thunder".

My basses become my friends - or get sold. My friends have names.

Little Axe for Warwick Streamer Stage I
Battleaxe for Musicman Stingray 5
The Beheaded for Haeussel Jazz 5 active headles
Blacky for Ibanez K5
Ol' Relioable for 1964 Fender Precision
Thunderchild for 1968 Fender Mustang
Blondie for Tokai Jazz Fretles
Blackie for Hoshino Gakki "Master" (Les-Paul-Style)
Slim Jim for Bunny Brunell EUB
Fat Bob for Aria Acoustic Bass

My basses have earned theyr names, helping me over hours on stages around Europe, in the sun and the rain, getting poured with sweat, blood and sometimes beer. They get cleaned, maintained, loved, but sometimes I beat the sh*t out of them. But they love getting treated like this. They never left me behind. And I love them, all of them.

I have to stop now, getting more and more lofty.....
